How to whiten teeth? Round-up of natural treatments for Hollywood smile!

Is your red lipstick hidden somewhere on the bottom of the drawer because it enhances all imperfections of your smile? It turns out that you are not the only one who faces up to this problem. We use whitening toothpastes, stripes, have sandblasting done, and then the teeth go yellow all over again. What can we do to prevent that?

I reveal my top teeth-whitening hacks and things to avoid if you really want to keep snow-white smile longer!

Let’s start with a few facts: we need to know the enemy before fighting it, and I don’t think this comparison is too much. I felt like I was engaged in a battle when I started searching for remedies for yellowish shade of my teeth. I was happy about every little step I made forward.

What causes teeth to go yellow?

I’ve heard that causes of yellow teeth are divided into two groups: external (lifestyle-related) and internal (genetics) but I’m not going to explore the topic this way.

Discover TOP things that make your teeth yellow.

  • Too much coffee, tea, cola, red wine.
  • Eating fruit such as berries or pomegranate often.
  • Cigarette smoking habit.
  • Incorrect oral hygiene e.g. no flossing.
  • Some medications e.g. antibiotics.
  • Genes and natural body aging process.

What to do to have white teeth then?

You can draw some conclusions merely by reading the above list. What to avoid and what to do if we desire snow-white teeth?

1. Cut down on coffee.

By doing so, you make both your teeth and yourself healthier. As much as I know some of you can’t imagine ditching coffee or even reducing its intake, I believe you can try replacing one coffee a day with a glass of water. Coffee turns out to be the most common cause of stains appearing on our teeth.

2. Brush your teeth thoroughly and regularly.

This piece of advice might seem pointless because everybody knows they need a daily tooth brushing but which of you brushes their teeth after every meal for at least two minutes using a brush that has the correct bristles? Not many, I guess. Remember that regular brushing routine aids in removing the scale and keeping teeth white.

3. Use a whitening toothpaste.

Hands down a whitening toothpaste makes a good pick but you need to run through its ingredients. They should be as natural as possible to avoid enamel damage and prevent dentin hypersensitivity.

4. Add lemon to your tea.

Sounds absurd? How can a slice of lemon in your tea remedy yellow teeth? It can do that thanks to natural brightening properties. If you put it in tea, you’re saved from stains on the teeth. Drinking water with lemon juice is also a great idea – simple and effective.

The best home treatments for whiter teeth

Apart from day-to-day rules of hygiene and tips on how to whiten the teeth, there are plenty of whitening remedies and treatments that might work perfectly or badly. DIY methods aren’t always effective, and they might be even harmful (e.g. whitening teeth with hydrogen peroxide). That is why I present a list of my DIY tried and trusted teeth-whitening treatments. Test their amazing effect on your own teeth!

1. Activated charcoal teeth whitening

My beloved remedy for yellow teeth. I crumble up activated charcoal capsule and mix it with water (oil or toothpaste works too). I rub the paste into my teeth. This form of toothbrushing has a double effect – rubs the scale as well as detoxifies and cleans the teeth.

2. Banana peel teeth whitening

Rubbing the teeth with banana peel also gives a very nice effect. Even though it sounds irrational, it’s worth a shot. Do you lose anything if you rub a banana peel against the teeth before throwing it out? The peel of this fruit is rich in whitening minerals!

3. Turmeric teeth whitening

Using turmeric paste is yet another remedy for yellow teeth. When I first heard about that and imagined the color of turmeric, I couldn’t believe it was a real thing. Then, I tested the hack and swear by it. Turmeric has whitening, antifungal and antibacterial effect so using it twice a week as addition to toothpaste is a great way to keep a Hollywood smile longer.

4. Baking soda teeth whitening

Last but not least, whitening teeth with baking soda – just do it in moderation. Baking soda paste – soda+ water – effectively clears teeth of the plaque but it might rub off the enamel. Used too often or in too large amounts, it might be a trigger for dentin hypersensitivity.

Let me know if you have some other natural ways to whiten the teeth. Other girls and I will be happy to test them.
