Women like lasers too, but not necessarily the ones from Star Wars series. Although Han Solo is ultra cool, some people prefer a suction head emitting laser beam that destroys ‘the imperium of hair’ on our body. I’m sure that you’ve already guessed that I’m talking about laser hair removal. Now I’m currently after the fourth session.
Today I’d like to tell you why I’ll never buy a home laser hair removal device, why it is better to get hair removed in a professional salon and how the cosmetic procedure of permanent hair removal looks like. And obviously I’m going to answer the most frequently asked questions concerning this subject, so let’s begin with…
IN-SALON LASER HAIR REMOVAL: IS IT PAINFUL? IS IT COST-EFFECTIVE?
What is laser hair removal about?
A laser beam penetrates skin, it goes through approximately 4 mm underneath the skin, so it reaches hair bulbs and damages its matrix (the part of hair responsible for its growth). Professionally this process is called selective photothermolysis. This is how the unwanted hair is removed but apart from that this cosmetic procedure is really helpful when your body is affected by ailments such as perifolliculitis (inflammation of follicles) which is often caused by long-term use of disposable razors which in turn leads to this burdensome ingrown hair.
A laser beam released by the suction head targets the follicles only – it doesn’t cause harm to skin. This is exactly why laser can be used also on sensitive body parts like bikini, upper lip or chin. What I’d like to draw your attention to, the thicker and darker the hair is, the more effective the laser hair removal treatment is.
The first effects of laser hair removal can be noticed right after leaving the beauty salon (I mean after the first session). Every another session has to take place no sooner than after 4 weeks, yet it may be done even after 8 weeks. Actually, the length of intervals depends on the hair growth cycle and the pace at which the laser-treated hair falls out.
How the procedure of laser hair removal look like? Today, you will find out what really happens in a salon
A few days ago I had my fourth imperial laser battle 🙂 And I have to admit that everything changed kaleidoscopically. I’m visiting the beautician every 4 weeks, and after the first two sessions, I was truly delighted – the hair barely grew! Sadly, after the third session these bastards organized themselves, made a pact and circled the wagons – they started growing back! It turned out pretty fast that these were some ‘survivors’ that were during other growing phase, which is completely normal. When I visited my beautician and told her angrily what had happened (I saw hair growing out), she replied happily: “Wonderful! Let’s get them!”, which left me pretty confused. It turned out that that was what had to happen to make the treatment successful – these survivors had to appear so my beautician could finally deal with them. And that was exactly what she did. She made real “Laser Wars” 😀
Obviously, before getting the regrowing hair destroyed and actually before the entire treatment I had been afraid that it would hurt me. I wasn’t sure how this cosmetic procedure really looks like. Oh, I forget to tell you that you have to fill in a form, which is a kind of an interview that a beautician has to conduct with a client to learn whether you suffer from any disease etc. She just needs to know if she can treat your body with a laser beam. The question that surprised me most was the one concerning the medication I take. I was wondering “Do I have to list ALL the pills that I take?”. Anyway…
It turned out that:
- IT DOESN’T HURT because a beautician treats your skin with special cooling tools.
- The procedure DOESN’T TAKE LONG. I’m having my bikini done so it takes literally 10 minutes and I can return home.
- The only thing that is on you is to USE A RAZOR TO SHAVE THE BODY PARTS YOU WANT TO FREE FROM HAIR before each session.
- PROFESSIONAL LASER DEVICE such as Light Sheer is a badass that costs a small fortune. Do you really think that some home laser tool measures up to such a might? Never.
- There are just several CONTRAINDICATIONS TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL. Mostly, they include pregnancy and the breastfeeding period. Also, you can’t expose your body to laser if you use some photosensitive preparations such as vitamin A or hypericum. Actually, this matters if you want the laser to get you free from some facial hair.
Laser hair removal. My thoughts and final conclusion
I won’t lie, in-salon laser hair removal was a kind of revelation to me. Back then I couldn’t use a razor, battery shaver or waxing strips. Shaving creams didn’t serve their purpose either. All of the common ways of removing hair used to leave me with inflamed follicles. Therefore, I did some research, came across laser hair removal, talked with experts and decided to get it done.
Professional laser hair removal treatment differs from the one that you can carry out at home with the time that it occupies – it’s faster in the office. A beautician knows exactly how to do it and what settings should be used (the power of laser). Everything goes smooth and fast. Also, I can’t say that this treatment is excruciatingly painful. You don’t waste much time on this procedure and mostly – just a few sessions are enough to get the hair vanish FOR A FEW LONG YEARS. Home laser hair removal device will never give you the same effect because untrained users will be never allowed to wield a tool generating strong laser beam as it is done in professional salons.
This is why I’m a big fan of professional in-salon laser hair removal treatment which I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone. This is a really marvelous cosmetic procedure that frees you from hair for a few years.
What your thoughts concerning laser hair removal? Does anyone have this home laser removal device?
