My best hair care tips? What would you say for scalp conditioners?

Hey everyone,

I guess, I’ve always paid special attention to my hair. Apart from using regular hair care products such as masks, shampoos and ampules, I also regularly apply scalp conditioners. Do they really work? Are they as effective as the producers claim they are? How do I use them? Continue reading to find out.

What is a scalp conditioner?

Scalp conditioner (sometimes called scalp lotion) is a hair care product that has to be applied to the scalp and hair roots in order to provide oneself with the desired effects. The most popular scalp conditioners combat hair loss and help improve hair growth. Of course, you can conjure scalp conditioner at home or buy a commercial one in a shop. In most cases, scalp conditioners are composed of herbal extractions, natural oils and vitamins. I’m sure that you have most of the ingredients required to prepare handmade scalp conditioner already in your cupboards. What I have to tell you though is that a handmade scalp lotion must be used within 7 days. You should also keep it in a fridge.

What are the benefits of using scalp conditioner?

The effects delivered by a scalp conditioner include:

  • stimulating the follicles and taking care of skin on the head.
  • balancing sebum production.
  • moisturizing and nourishing the hair.
  • reinforcing hair.
  • adding body to hair.
  • helping hair roots remain fresh for longer.
  • preventing bacteria from multiplying.

How to prepare your handmade scalp conditioner?

Below you will find a few recipes for DIY scalp conditioners. I tested most of them myself therefore I can wholeheartedly recommend them to you.

1. Fenugreek scalp conditioner to prevent hair loss

Take a cup. Put there a spoon of powdered fenugreek grains and pour boiling water over it. The infusion should be ready within 15 minutes. When it cools down, you can apply your handmade scalp conditioner to the hair. Mind you, fenugreek resemble the aroma of chicken soup, which of course isn’t to everyone’s liking.

2. Hair growth scalp conditioner with herbal syrup

At the beginning I must warn you that most herbal syrups contain alcohol that might irritate your scalp. However, if you decide to use it either way, combine it with water using 1:2 proportions. You can use this scalp conditioner every other day. I also advise you to observe the scalp.

3. Lemon scalp conditioner to prevent and manage oily scalp

I use this beauty product as a leave-in scalp conditioner – but only to clean scalp. If you want to prepare such scalp conditioner, squeeze half lemon juice and combine with water.

4. Hair growth boosting scalp conditioner with onion

Indeed, onion is able to stimulate the follicles to grow long hair faster. Grate this vegetable. Then combine with water or apply directly to the scalp without thinning with water. Let it sit for two or three hours before hair washing.

How to apply scalp conditioners?

Well, scalp conditioner must be applied regularly, every day, if you care for achieving the looked-for results. There are scalp conditioners that are designed to be applied prior or after hair washing. In most cases, a scalp conditioner must sit on scalp for a few hours straight, otherwise it won’t work. If you want to make application easier, I’d suggest you to use a bottle with atomizer or a pipette. Additionally, scalp conditioner should be distributed a portion by portion, spreading it evenly along the partings that each hair section creates. Last but not least, remember to massage the scalp conditioner into the skin. This will accelerate its penetration and improve blood flow in scalp.
