Summer is coming to an end, leaving us with rainy days and seasonal hair loss (I don’t know what is worse, ugh…). To steer clear of dehydration, color fade and shedding, you need to act fast! Luckily, you don’t have to visit your hairdresser to get some ultra-expensive treatments done. Nowadays you’re given a wide range of hair care products that deliver salon-worthy results. And the best bit is that you can get the same effects at a fraction of the cost of regular in-salon treatments. How can you do that?

Just choose a hair mask that satisfies all your hair’s needs. Easier said than done? Well, if you have no clue which product suits your strands, I’m here to help you. In a second you will read 5 reviews of hair masks that I tested on my hair. Some of the masks are widely-recognized, meaning that even hair specialists recommend them. Keep reading to find out which product will improve your hair better.

The correct way of using a hair mask

There is one issue that I need to address first – application of hair masks. Do you want it to give you the best effects? Sure, you do! Therefore ignore all hair products that need just 3 minutes before being rinsed out. This couple of minutes isn’t enough to repair damaged hair. No matter the masks I use, I always let it sit for 20 minutes, sometimes more, and rinse thoroughly afterwards. Whenever I have more time, I wrap my head with a towel and warm it up with a hair dryer. Warmth helps hair masks penetrate deeper through the shafts. Do it just once and you’ll feel the difference. And now, without further ado, let me show you 5 best hair masks you should give a try to.

1 Nanoil, Keratin Hair Mask

Nanoil, Keratin Hair Mask

Dream mask! It doesn’t only work like a professional hair care product but it also contains a large concentration of keratin and panthenol. On top of that, it doesn’t cost much as for 300-ml product! I like this Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask for its formula – I don’t see any ingredient that may possibly worsen the effect delivered by keratin and panthenol. It’s weightless so it doesn’t strip my hair off volume, is easy to apply and doesn’t run down the hair. After the treatment, hair smells beautiful, is glossy and looks fabulous. Once you start using Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask regularly, you will forget about dry, brittle and dull strands that are unmanageable. Actually, hair looks way better after just a single use. I’d totally recommend this hair mask to everyone. In my view, it should work for you because every hair type needs keratin to remain healthy-looking and strong.

2 Kevin Murphy, Hydrate Me Masque

Sometimes I’m literally sad after seeing how expensive some cosmetics are. I had Hydrate Me Masque twice. Once I bought it myself, the other time I received it as a gift. I truly love the effect of deeply moisturized hair, so shiny and smooth. To be honest, so far I haven’t come across a product that would improve my hair to such an extent. Ofc, I’ll keep searching but I’m slowly losing hope for this to happen. In my opinion, Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque is the best moisturizing hair mask that you can get. But is it worth spending so much money to replenish water to the hair? I’ll let you answer this question yourself.

3 Ouai, Thick Hair Treatment Masque

This is another top-shelf product, it’s size isn’t big either, but Thick Hair Treatment Masque makes a perfect option for extremely damaged hair that is “tired” with continuous styling. Ouai gave me the best emollient mask I’ve had a chance to use. The formula is also amazing, enriched with almond oil, macadamia oil, olive oil, shea butter and illipe butter. Note for those of you who have fine hair: Ouai Thick Hair Treatment Masque may weigh your strands down, so be careful and use just a small portion per treatment. I used to spread the product from my mid-length downwards and this made my hair stronger and more resistant to damage. This product freed me from brittleness and frizz, too.

4 Davines, Nounou Hair Mask

Who wants some tomatoes for hair? Who? I’m not joking 🙂 If you like naturally-derived ingredients, this “tomato” hair mask from Davines will suit you. I think it’s worth mentioning that the tomatoes used in Nounou Hair Mask are collected from just one region of the world – southern Italy. Does it even make sense to apply tomatoes to the hair? Actually, it does because they are rich in nutrients that leave hair shiny, balance the scalp and help you remove the cosmetic buildup.

5 Moroccanoil, Restorative Hair Mask

It’s definitely one of the most popular hair masks that repairs and in a kind renews strands in a relatively short period of time. I like the effects Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask produced on my hair, and therefore I reach for it when I want to deliver a portion of emollients (it’s enriched with argan oil) to my strands. Even though this mask isn’t cheap (Why are all efficacious hair masks so expensive?!), you can find a travel size bottle, which naturally costs less than its regular variant. As the instruction says, you should let Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask sit for 5 minutes but I never do that. Instead I keep it on my strands for at least 15 minutes. Let me know if you remove it after just 5 minutes.

These are all hair masks that I truly think are worth having at home. Do you know any “evergreen” hair masks? I’m also curious if you have used other hair masks from the brands included in the ranking. I’m waiting for your thoughts left in the comments section below.
